Bone Thugs-N-Harmony replace Big Booty, ‘whips’ and ‘bling’ with ‘great rap song’

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone & Wish Bone) are stepping rap music up a notch from the norm today with their new single entitled I Tried which has a new video airing on Yahoo! Music and BET’s 106 & Park and features Akon.

It’s nice to hear a song today that you can compliment on the song itself instead of only the women’s big booty in the video or the rapper’s ‘bling’ or ‘whip’ or car rims. Don’t get it twisted, booty is nice, but really, music was created to be enjoyed through the ear. Booty, ‘whips’ and ‘bling’ were additional enjoyments, but were never meant as a replacement of good music and or song creation. I Tried is a nice song and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and all, those who helped in the song creation, deserve a hand for bringing the notch of good rap music up a bit. “This is a song from the heart,” says Layzie Bone. “We write songs that we feel. It’s a song we wrote cause of stuff we was going through,” adds Krayzie.

The song I Tried, which is currently No. 14 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Tracks chart, comes off the group’s upcoming album Strength & Loyalty which is expected in stores May 8th and features Swizz Beatz, Mariah Carey, Yolanda Adams, Twista, the Game, Akon, Bow Wow and many others.

‘It’s a real versatile album,” Krayzie Bone tells Billboard.com. “Ain’t nothing the same on there. Every song puts you in a different zone.”

Production on album Strength & Loyalty features Jermaine Dupri, Neo da Matrix and will.i.am.

I Tried is also the title of the Cleveland rappers’ first independent movie.

“It’s a ‘what if?’ movie,” explains Layzie. “Like, what if Bone Thugs-N-Harmony would have taken that one-way bus ticket to L.A. and never would have got on with Eazy-E?”

“Strength and Loyalty” is the second album the group will release as a trio. Former member Bizzy Bone left Bone Thugs in 2003 due to creative differences, and fifth member Flesh-N-Bone is serving an 11-year prison term.
